What kinds of clients do you serve?

For organizational consulting, our clients are those organizations that have achieved some degree of success in the basics of profitability, client relationships, and best practices, and are now asking, what’s next?  These organizations are open to looking at and exploring the impact of organizational culture on organizational success, of how values and behaviors shape business actions, and of how unconscious dynamics influence business relationships.  Whatever their specific circumstances, these organizations are open to next-level thinking and performance improvement alternatives.

For coaching services, our clients are people who have some degree of success in their lives, but have come to a point where they no longer feel that this is enough.  They are starting to ask themselves, what’s next?  They may lack a sense of purpose in their lives.  They may want to improve their skills and abilities to improve their satisfaction with their lives.  They may want to find a more balanced approach to work, relationships, and/or life in general.  They may be looking at a significant change in their lives and wanting support in transitioning into that new stage of existence with ease and grace.  Whatever their specific circumstances, they are definitely in a place of seeking answers to their questions about how to improve their lives in some way.

What kind of coaching do you do?

Every coach has his or her own unique style and skill set.  Our coaching experience and practice focuses on personal growth and development, and addressing challenges at work.  Our style generally involves engaging in deep listening, asking clarifying questions, providing observations and feedback, and working with each individual to identify and support the best possible solution for their unique situation.

In addition, Dr. Scheiern has been actively coaching individuals in their personal growth and development efforts since 1990 and has been designing and implementing both individual and group transformational experiences since 1991.  The effectiveness of such experiences was the subject of her doctoral research and her findings are used to support and enrich all PurposeWorks LLC workshops and presentations.

What is a “transformational intensive”?

A transformational intensive is a workshop or event designed to bring about positive experientially based change in those individuals and/or groups who participate.  Each intensive is specifically created to address a particular topic or issue and can be customized to reflect key elements of participants’ environments, cultures, and/or value systems.

What is the most important factor to the success of transformational efforts?

For organizations, the most important factor to the success of any transformational effort is the receptiveness of the individuals in-charge to positive change – for themselves first and for their teams, departments, and organizations later.  No amount of money and/or effort will materially change the status quo if people observe that change efforts are only talked about and not actually lived by the leaders they look up to for guidance on how to succeed.  As Gandhi said, “Let us become the change we seek in the world.”

For individuals, the most important factor to the success of any transformational effort is addressing fear.  When fears outweigh perceived benefits, individuals will not be open to change.  When fear is appropriately addressed and honored for the purpose that it serves, individuals can begin to open up to the possibility of change in their lives.
